Your Guide to Jaco Nightlife (2016 Edition)

You are coming to Jaco. You want to party. But you don’t know where the F*ck the party is!

We are constantly amused by people telling us they heard this bar was good or the party is over there on Fridays…but that bar is no longer open or the party hasn’t been at that other place for 3-4 years. Like anywhere else in the world, the nightlife in Jaco is constantly changing. The tourist guides and websites that you are reading could be several years old and not current…and that great bar your friend went to 5 years ago may no longer be open. Morada Haze? Gone! Space? Closed! Loro Loco? Done! Monkey Bar? Buh-bye! To help you out, we put this quick guide together so you have an idea of where to go each night of the week.

Here is your day by day guide to the who, what and where of the Jaco Party Scene.

Monday Night: Monday is typically a slower night but everyone goes to Orange Pub for locals night. Dance the night away or grab a pool table and bang the balls around.

Tuesday: Head to Green Room if you are looking for live music and some craft beer. Your best bets to find the late party on Tuesday night is at Le Loft….Late meaning after 12 midnight.

Wednesday: Everyone in town heads to Jaco Blu for Reggae Night and Ladies Night. Jaco Blu is an outdoor venue and the party centers around the pool.

Thursday: The nightlife starts to pick up with Thursday being the unofficial start of the weekend. Early party-goers should check out Los Amigos and Orange. The late night party people head to Le Loft and Wave, 2 of only a few bars with a late license(after 2:30am).

Los Amigos is a great place to warm up for a night of partying.

Friday: The local crowd fills Orange Pub which gets going about 11pm. Wave and Le Loft get going after Midnight. Los Amigos has a good earlier crowd.

Saturday: The surf contest at Backyard Bar in Playa Hermosa is a great place to get the party going and watch the sunset. The surf contest starts at 4pm and is usually followed by live music or a dj. Get there early for a table or to claim a prime piece of the beach. Saturday is the busiest night of the week and most places are full. Check out Los Amigos for the earlier crowd(9-12pm). Orange Pub will be full of locals but lacks AC so dress light. Le Loft is a relatively small club and will be full of party goers after 12am. The nightclub at Croc’s Casino has been picking up a steady crowd because of their weekly events and its great place to check out after hitting the blackjack tables(Open til 5am). Club Wave is also open until 5am and fills up when the other bars are closing down.

Sunday: Check out Jaco Blu’s Pool Party every Sunday afternoon and be sure to wear your bathing suit! Several of the bars are open but Le Loft, Orange and Wave will all be pumping the music looking for your business.

Sports: (UFC, Football, Baseball, Basketball, Futbol)-Los Amigos has been the go to spot for sporting events for almost 10 years in Jaco. Be sure to call ahead if you want a table for UFC, playoffs or other big events because they are always full.

Girls Girls Girl*: The Back Bar called Frogs at Casino Cocal is the go to spot if you want to meet girls. The girls start to show up early afternoon and they will be around until after midnight. After midnight, the girls will spread out to the clubs popular that night. If its after Midnight, Le Loft offers your best chance to meet the girl of your dreams. *Prostitution is legal in Costa Rica. You will have to pay to play with these girls.

Gambling: There are really only 2 casinos in Jaco worth going too. Casino Cocal in Downtown Jaco has slot machines, tables and a poker room. Croc’s Casino opened in Feb 2015 by Vegas Veterans and is where the serious gamblers head.

Live Music: The Green Room has become the Live music leader in Jaco. The Green Room has live music 7 nights a week and some of the best musicians in the area as well as international artists. There is also frequently live music at a number of other places like Croc’s Casino, Backyard Bar and Los Amigos.

Gentleman’s Club: There is one Strip club in the Jaco Area called Centerfolds. Centerfolds is located on the main strip in Jaco above Kokomo’s.

Special Events: There are frequently concerts, special DJ’s, Surf contests, etc in the area that can be a lot of fun. Ask around when you arrive in town to make sure you don’t miss any special parties.
